The Department for Education have released its updated guidance Working Together to Safeguard Children – July 2018.

This guidance applies to all organisations and agencies who have functions relating to children. Specifically this guidance applies to all local authorities, clinical commissioning groups, police and other organisations and agencies.  It applies to all schools and applies to all children up to age of 18 years whether living with their families, in state care, or living independently.  It must be complied with unless exceptional circumstances arise.

There is a shared responsibility between organisations and agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in their local area.  The responsibility for the multi-agency safeguarding arrangements will transfer from the Plymouth Safeguarding Children Board to the three safeguarding partners:-

  • local authority
  • clinical commissioning group
  • police

who have a shared and equal duty to make arrangements to work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in the local area.

More information will be available upon this website in due course.
