In consultation with Plymouth Safeguarding Children’s Board, Plymouth City Council is introducing a Strength Based Model for our child protection initial case conference and review meetings. A strengths based child protection meeting is about working in partnership with families to enable them to come up with a plan that will keep their children safe. These meetings take place when worries for a child are so serious that professionals and the family come together to decide if a child is at risk of significant harm and in need of a Child Protection Plan.
STRENGTH BASED CHILD PROTECTION MEETINGS GO LIVE ON THE 17 SEPTEMBER 2018
The meeting talks about what the strengths and worries are for the child as identified by the family, child and professionals and how these strengths can be built upon to help reduce the risk of harm. As professionals attending the conference you will be expected to complete a universal Child Protection Report which can be downloaded here.
A short video of a mock conference has been created to support with the introduction and training of this new approach and can be found here.
This is to be used for the purposes of raising awareness and training within your organisation.
If you have any queries regarding a conference you will be attending, please feel free to contact the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service on 01752 306340.
