Local organisations and agencies that work with children and families play a significant role when it comes to safeguarding children, and they have a shared responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in their local area.
The responsibility for this join-up locally rests with three safeguarding partners (Local Authority, Police and NHS Devon CCG) who have a shared and equal duty to make arrangements to work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in their local area.
Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 transfers local safeguarding arrangements from Local Safeguarding Children Boards to the Local Authority, Clinical Commissioning Group, and Chief Officer of Police (three safeguarding partners).
Plymouth City Council, NHS Devon CCG and Devon & Cornwall Police invite you to share your views on their current proposals to replace the Plymouth Safeguarding Children Board with new multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.
The below document sets and contains the current proposal and seeks your views on its key points. It should be noted that the proposal remains subject to dialogue between the three safeguarding partners. It is important that this dialogue is informed by your views and suggestions.
Please ensure that this opportunity is given your urgent attention.
On 8 May 2019 the three safeguarding partners are running an agency development day to further discuss the Working Together 2018 transition arrangements with all members. This development day presents an opportunity to meet with others with safeguarding responsibilities across Plymouth and Torbay and to reflect, discuss and engage with future developments and plans.
